This stuff provides great conditioning, and a bit of shine and shaping. My beard looks and smells great, and is totally flake-free! Also does double duty as lip balm, if you're into traveling light.
If you're looking to combat flaking like me, I recommend a different application method: apply a small amount to fingertips and then comb fingers upwards through a section of your beard, massaging the skin with your fingertips. Repeat as many times as necessary to condition all of the skin under your beard. You can finish by smoothing some on the surface of your beard with your palms, if you want additional shine and hold.
I have been trying all types of beard balm and oils. Either I was left with residue that stained my clothes or I felt other products just didn't do anything to help with the roughness of my facial hair.
